Master Instructor

When and where was your first dive ?

Zante, September 2007. As I walked down the beach there were lots of baby turtles hatching and making their way to the sea. It was pretty Special.

What  made you want to become a professional diver ?

I  loved diving and wanted to make a career out of introducing others to the amazing underwater world. The enjoyment of seeing divers come  out of the water after their first dive is always exciting.

Favourite type of diving ?

I enjoy them all but if I had to pick one I would choose the deeper technical wrecks. I love the planning that goes into a deep dive and  the sight of a wreck emerging as you drop down the shot line.

Best Dive ?

The Markgraff or any of the big wrecks Scapa Flow. The history behind each of the wrecks just adds to the dives.

Dream diving destination ?

The Galapagos Islands. It has everything.

Favourite piece of dive equipment and why ?

GoPro, I can take lots of footage to make my friends jealous.

Favourite marine life ?

Sharks, their power and gracefulness in the water is fantastic to watch.

If you could choose any buddy who would it be ?

I would love to get my Dad back in the water. I was a trainee Divemaster when he did his Openwater but have only dived with him a couple of times since then. My favourite buddy is my wife, I know its soppy but we understand exactly what each other are doing in the water which makes diving with her so easy.

What is your next diving goal ?

My main goal is to drive Reefers and Wreckers to the next level. On a personal development level I am  torn between becoming a PADI Course Director and venturing into the world of Rebreathers. All three will require a great deal of commitment.

Best water related joke ?

One day, a diver was enjoying the aquatic world 15 metres below sea level. He noticed a guy at the same depth he was, with no scuba gear on whatsoever.
The diver went below another 10 metres, but the guy joined him a minute later. The diver went below 15 more metres, a minute later, the same guy joined him.
This confused the diver, so he took out a waterproof chalkboard, and wrote, “How the heck are you able to stay under this deep without equipment?”
The guy took the board and chalk, erased what the diver had written, and wrote, “I’m drowning, you moron
